So I am still dusting off some old files and found some from back when I was up in Alaska.  This first shot and my favorite Bald Eagle shot of all time was taken out in Dutch Harbor, AK.

These next four were all taken downing Homer, AK.  Now when I say these needed during off, they really did.  When I went on this shoot my Mark IIn was all of about 4 days old ( I was still reading the manual the night before the first day of shooting ) and like any new camera it was plauged with what I call break in dust.  Every small bit of dust that was shaken loose in that new body found its way to the sensor.  At the time I had no earthly idea how to clean a camera, so most of these shots originally looked like the Balds were flying in a volcanic fallout.  But thanks to some time and the healing brush said dust be gone and now I have some images again.

So, I have been trying to blog for a week now with no luck, but hopefully this WordPress tweak does the trick. My little crack about putting my laptop out the window must have made the weather and internet gods really angry. Right now the weather outside here in Dutch Harbor is a balmy 25 degrees F with winds gusting to 51+ mph. It has been like this for a few days, but there are breaks in the weather now and then so I grab the camera and I’m out the door. I snagged this shot between rain storms at one of the cemeteries on the island. This cemetery dates back to when Alaska was occupied by Russia . I dropped this image into Color Efex 3.0 and used Infrared and Paper Toner to achieve this look.

So I’m heading back to Dutch Harbor, AK today for 2 weeks of fun filled snow and rain. But one thing that is great about this little island is that it is teeming with wildlife. This little Artic fox was a shoot from last year he like to hang out by the old WWII ruins hopefully I can find him again. Besides this little guy the island has Balds, Otters, Seals, and a tom of other things to photograph. So keep your eyes peeled for updates.
