We went out this morning with the Base camp students for round 2 with the Dall sheep, and we won!!! We had 3 rams and 4 ewes that hung out with us for almost 2 hours before they headed back up into the mountains after feeding. What a great morning…

WOW, and that is all I can say… This week has been a non-stop mad dash and yesterday Base Camp took to the water. We headed out on a boat in search of sea creatures big and small. We had a blast and now I’m blogging at 2am getting ready to head right back out in 3 hours. There have been so many great shots and locations that I have been averaging 1700+ images a day while we’ve been up here. I love Alaska…

These two were just relaxing in the water as we cruised by in our boat.

And this cow was out and about looking for her calf when we were heading back to Anchorage after a great day on the water.

Greetings from AK! Well, it was nice to get out and shoot today with Moose and Sharon. As always with Moose and I we went hunting for an old town to photograph. I know we’re supposed to photograph wildlife at Base Camp, but we’re doing that too. We went up to independence Mine, an old mine that was started back in the early 1900’s. The road was closed so we had to walk about a mile or so up hill to get the town. Along the way the river was rolling by and I thought, WOW, someone found a little bit of gold in these waters and decided to chase it to the source. Problem was the source was on top of peak, and I mean the very top (6000+ ft). This old mine town was completely self contained so it had everything. It was a very neat place to shoot.

This was one of the entrances to the bunk houses at the mine. It housed 50+ people and was 3 stories tall. Down side it cost these guys $10 just to have a movie brought up to them, and that was 70+ years ago.

This was a great shot of the entrance to the engineers office. I finished it an old time look.
