So I am still dusting off some old files and found some from back when I was up in Alaska.  This first shot and my favorite Bald Eagle shot of all time was taken out in Dutch Harbor, AK.

These next four were all taken downing Homer, AK.  Now when I say these needed during off, they really did.  When I went on this shoot my Mark IIn was all of about 4 days old ( I was still reading the manual the night before the first day of shooting ) and like any new camera it was plauged with what I call break in dust.  Every small bit of dust that was shaken loose in that new body found its way to the sensor.  At the time I had no earthly idea how to clean a camera, so most of these shots originally looked like the Balds were flying in a volcanic fallout.  But thanks to some time and the healing brush said dust be gone and now I have some images again.

There’s a long story behind this image, but I am just going to make this brief.  This was taken the 2nd day of me owning a digital camera.  It was a Canon Rebel 300D with a 100-400mm lens on it, and I was practicing photographing Grizzlies before I headed to Alaska.  The reason I am showing this is because: one only a few people have ever seen this shot, and 2nd I thought I had lost this shot forever.  Today while I was unpacking some more stuff I stumbled upon this little 80GB HDD out of a case and just sitting in a box.  I put it in an enclosure and plugged it in and to my surprise starring back at me were images that I thought had been lost from over 4 years ago.  I quickly made a back up of the drive and then started to go back through the files, and to my shear happiness I came across this image.  I was one of my favorites back then and it still is now.

It truly is amazing how images can bring emotions to the surface and bring back the memories of a moment in time.  I hope you enjoy this image as much as I have

So it has been slightly nuts to say the least around here.  We just moved into the new place and as with all moving blunders, I couldn’t find half of my gear until today.  Luckily the Black-Tailed deer decided to come back today and hang out in the front yard.  Slowly but surely I am going ot get back up and running around here.  The computers are up and running as of last night (luckily nothing fried), and I have found all of my gear including some stuff I forgot I had…  It is like Christmas in August…

Stay tuned, more to come
