I know I never really type personal things on the blog.  I try to keep it about the art of photography and my journey through it.  I keep the personal stuff to myself.  But today is going to be different, because today is the first day in the last 8  years that I have been without this amazing puppy you see above.  You may have seen a shot of Storm I posted just a few days ago on March 1st.  I am sad to say that yesterday, my boy passed on.  It was sudden and we didn’t now how bad it was until we got him to the doctor.  But I am not surprised.  Storm always put the people he loved first.  Even if he was sick he would try not to show it, but if you were hurting he would be there to comfort you and make you fell better.  He was a great friend like that.  While my Wife and I were at work each day he would lay stretched out on the couch watching Dr. Phil or whatever soap opera was on at the time.  When we got home, we would get a full play by play of the events on the TV with a series of barks, howls, and tail wags.  When I worked on my photos he would curl up on the couch next to me and watch me work, every once in a while pushing my elbow reminding me that he wanted to have his belly scratched.  I am truly going to miss him, and the times we had together.

This photo here is the last one I ever took of Storm.  He was curled up on the couch and the sun began to shine through in the window, I was blocking his view of the TV that he so loved to watch, but he was tolerating me.  I went, grabbed my camera and Storm just sat there and let me click away.  I will always remember what was going on when I took this shot.  Photos are supposed to cause a emotional response when someone looks at them, and this is one that will probably weigh heavy on my heart for the rest of my life.

Goodbye my dear friend we will love and miss you always….

  5. I’m so sad to hear of Storm’s passing. I truely know that feeling. I lost my cat, Ziggy, who was 15 just three weeks ago. He was such a character. There’s just nothing better than a four-legged pal!

  7. Josh, I am SO SO sorry! I can’t imagine how hard this is for you.

This is just heartbreaking. My thoughts are with you, buddy.

Look at that last shot with love — I’m sure Storm did…

  8. All, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for thier kind words and prayers. Storm was a big part of the family and now that he has passed on the adjustment has been hard and painful. Your comments have been greatly appreciated.

    Thank you again

  9. Josh,
So sorry to hear about Storm…its a love like no human can give as hard as we try…my husband made sure both our daughters had their own dog by the time they were teenagers so they could always have someone to love them no matter how awkward or unlovable they felt. Thinking of you…cf
