So, in case you have not noticed the blog got a face lift tonight (I was bored, what can I say). So more changes will be coming slowly but surely over the next few months. One thing I have been doing since I have got back to California is try to develop my people photography. It has been one of my weak points, and I thought it was time i do something about it. So last night I got a chance to do some work for a new night club opening up here in my hometown. They wanted to get some shots of the club and of the DJ. The club has just opened and they are working really hard on this place. So they wanted some action shots of the DJ doing his thing. So I jumped up on a crate behind him and just started shooting. This was one of the results…

I used the old flip the zoom ring on a long exposure trick to get the effect. One thing about this shoot was that it was very dark in the club, so getting the flashes out was a must for this shot. For this set up I had a canon 430EX on a tripod to the right of the DJ with a Honl 1/4″ honeycomb and a deep red gel on it to put some rim light on him. I also had my 580EX on camera acting as the Master unit and a blue gel with a diffuser strapped on.
